About the Artist
Melissa Miller Nece is regarded as one of the foremost colored pencil artists in the country. Her enthusiasm and humor have made her a favorite speaker for arts groups around Florida, and she has inspired many others to try colored pencils through her classes and workshops. She has been teaching colored pencil, drawing, and oil and acrylic painting at the Dunedin Fine Art Center since 1990.

The Demo
I am a self taught artist, a ‘primitive” in a sophisticated world. My art work is a lyrical, symbolic narrative. Spontaneity, freedom and richness of color are characteristic of my work. They are enhanced by the nature of silk - its luster and receptivity to the dyes - and by the immediacy of the silk painting technique. This evening I will be demonstrating how I paint with dyes on silk.

About the Artist
Born and educated in New Zealand, Elizabeth traveled the world, becoming a US citizen in 1999. A self taught artist, her art career began with a successful exhibition of silk paintings in New Zealand, a visit to the Altos De Chavon Art Colony in the Dominican Republic, and a life as a self supporting artist. After twenty years, Elizabeth retired from the Art Show Circuit to focus on painting, (silk paintings available at Baisden Gallery Tampa, and Clay Paper Gallery in Dunedin), and teaching her “happy medium” at her studio.
TRA/FWS Members-Only Video Editing Workshop
Have you thought about taking a video of your art creation process and want to edit it to create a YouTube video or a video for your website? Are you seeing others do this and want to get started? Have you created a video but its too long and you need to cut it down and punch it up?
Florida Watercolor Society and Tampa Regional Artists are planning a one and a half hour training on Video Shooting and Editing Training for its members.
What is included:
You will learn the best way to shoot footage that includes lighting, audio and different angles and techniques that will enhance the visual look and creativity of the video.
You will learn editing skills where you will be able to take the footage you have shot and edit it together, add music, add text and learn how to use b-roll effectively.
All shooting and editing will be taught on mobile devices using apps that you may have to purchase.
We will be creating a video in class together.
You will receive handouts that you can refer to. This is a skill that you will be able to use many times over to make many wonderful pieces of video content.
$35 per hour per person.
The sessions will be taught by Diane Kutz of Modern Concepts Media.

Demonstration by Gina Stark -- Lino Cutting
Attention Artists and Art Lovers! We have a fun virtual demonstration planned for TRA's monthly meeting, Thursday May 14 at 7 PM. Gina Stark will demonstrate lino cutting. She will demonstration a simple lino design from planing to print. She will show examples of the process and have several in pieces in different stages of completion as well.

Gina has been creating Lino and Woodblock prints for about 3 years, finding much of her inspiration from observing and illustrating nature and the world around her. Her own backyard is where she began her Woodland Creatures series. Gina Stark is a native of Tampa, Florida and a formally trained artist who majored in fine arts in college. She believes that continued work and a curious mind is just as good a teacher. She is always taking classes in whatever she finds interesting, and highly recommends it!
She has had an "On again-Off again" love affair with portraiture. She mostly paints and draws children when she does make portraits, because she thinks that children are beautiful and perfect in every way.
